"A Baroque Bouquet" | Trio ZAC

Trio ZAC makes its debut in the Lewes Baroquefest with a pot-pourri of baroque music for bassoon, viola and double bass, to include Purcell: Prelude (from the Fairy Queen), Locke: The Flatt Consort, Handel: Larghetto and Allegro (from Trio Sonata in G minor for 2 violins) and Bach: 3 Part invention in C minor.

"Purcell - anthems and songs" | The Baroque Collective Singers

The Baroque Collective Singers make a welcome return to this year's festival with a programme of Purcell to include anthems Hear My Prayer, I Was Glad and My Heart is Inditing and the Funeral Sentences for Queen Mary. Soprano Alexandra Kidgell (The Sixteen) will sing a lively selection of Purcell’s songs.

Sing & Discover: Handel: Four Coronation Anthems

In this live workshop, with a fifteen minute social break, conductor and singer John Hancorn and writer and broadcaster Richard Wigmore explore Handel's Four Coronation Anthems. We shall look at the music in some detail while participants will join in with the choruses.
Sing & Discover workshops are for choral singers, choirs and music lovers who wish to broaden their range, extend their experience, increase their knowledge of style and context, and who enjoy a challenge.

Recorder virtuoso Piers Adams presents a stunning new project with his keyboardist partner Lyndy Mayle, combining the timeless sound-world of the baroque recorder with the universe of possibilities offered by 21st century synth technology. The programme features music by forgotten 17th century composers Montalbano, Pandolfi and D’Anglebert alongside baroque masters Handel, Telemann, Albinoni and Bach – including the famous Goldberg Variations as never heard before!

Handel’s four Coronation Anthems were composed for King George II in 1727; Zadok the Priest has been sung at every British coronation since and is a hugely popular baroque masterpiece. The Baroque
Collective Singers and The Baroque Collective perform all four Anthems and complete the programme
with two glorious choruses from Handel’s Messiah.
